Cape Kaliakra

Kaliakra is beautiful peninsula which enters 2 km into the sea and has an Altitude - 70m and is also nature-archaeological reserves. History of this place date from IV century before n. e. On the peninsula can be shown remains of the fortress and ruins of an ancient city. This magic place as well as his rich and dramatic history is famous with a lot of legends. One of the most popular is legend for 40 girls, who prefer to suicide jumping from the rocks, but not to be captured of the Turkish troops. On the cape are founded a lot of caves. One of them is now turned into a museum, when can be shown ancient exponents which was found on the territory of cape Kaliakra.

At first cape has name Tirizis, by the name of local Thracian tribe Tirizi, but also was called Akrekastelum, Kalatcerka, Akre, Kaliakra – which means beautiful cape.

Fortress walls, churches, public and residential buildings, remains of different periods are silent witness antiquity.
